How to Enter

Step 1: In at least 50 words, nominate yourself or someone you know.

Step 2: Top three finalists in each category win a FREE Flip Video Camcorder to support their nomination with a video.

Step 3: Vote for the Grand Prize winner in each category.

Step 4: Grand Prize winners in each category receive a FREE trip to AG CONNECT Expo 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ag Woman of the Year Award

The AG CONNECT Expo 2011 Ag Woman of the Year Award recognizes the achievements of women in farming operations, in their communities or in the agriculture industry as a whole. This award celebrates the role of women in agriculture and their contributions in operations, education, land stewardship, and business. More information.

Nominate Yourself or Someone You Know

  • Women currently working within the agriculture industry, for example:
    • Farm owners/operators who have made improvements to a business/operation and made it more successful or sustainable
    • Agriculture industry professionals who possess strong leadership characteristics and have shown resolve through adversity
    • Individuals who have advanced the positive image of agriculture

Community Leadership Award

The AG CONNECT Expo 2011 Community Leadership Award recognizes the generous spirit of agriculture through contributions made to local community projects and development. The award celebrates those working in the agriculture industry who have demonstrated a commitment to improve their community's quality of life. More information.

Nominate Yourself or Someone You Know

  • Ag producers currently working on community level agriculture projects or development, for example:
    • Farm owners/operators and mentors who've made changes to their operations benefitting the surrounding community
    • Agriculture leaders who possess a strong sense of community
    • Individuals who have advanced the positive image of agriculture

Award Nomination Details

  • Identify yourself or someone you know that meets the criteria as a nominee.
  • Tell us why you or the nominee deserves to win the award (list the positive impact of their efforts to improve their community's quality of life).

Next Generation of Ag Award

The AG CONNECT Expo 2011 Next Generation Ag Award recognizes the importance of our next generation of agriculture contributors. This award celebrates farmers, ranchers and other individuals under the age of 35 who have embraced the enormous responsibility to feed and clothe the world by committing to a career in agriculture. Nominate Yourself or Someone You Know

  • Those under the age of 35 who currently engaged with their ag community and have a vision for the future of our industry, for example:
    • Any individual who contributes to a farm or ranch and has a vision for its future
    • An individual who is active in an ag association, educational group or training program
    • Any individual working on innovative agricultural practices or ideas designed to improve the sustainability and productivity of agriculture
    • Individuals who have advanced the positive image of agriculture

History

The Advocating for Agriculture Awards are part of our commitment to a deliberate effort to voice support for production agriculture, and to present in a compelling way the work of farmers and ranchers to provide abundant and affordable food and fiber. The awards are intended to highlight the significant contribution that production agriculture makes to our quality of life.

One grand prize winner in each of the three categories—Ag Woman of the Year, Community Leadership Award and Next Generation of Ag Award—will receive a FREE trip to Atlanta for AG CONNECT Expo 2011. Nominations should include information that explains how the nominee's work and accomplishments this year have advocated for agriculture.

Key Dates

August 2-October 22: Nominations are accepted

October 29: Top three finalists in each category are announced

All Finalists win a FREE Flip Camera to help support their nomination

November 15-December 3: Online voting takes place

December 6: Grand prize winners announced

Prizes

Finalists: The top three finalists in each category will receive a Flip Video Camcorder to submit a supporting video for the online voting process and to keep.

Grand Prize: One grand prize winner in each category receives a free trip to AG CONNECT Expo 2011, including roundtrip airfare for two to Atlanta, Georgia, from anywhere in the continental U.S., hotel accommodations for two people for up to four nights, two complimentary admissions to the show including Preview Day, and two free tickets to the Education Breakout Sessions of their choice. Hotel stay is valid from 1/7/2011 through 1/11/2011.

All grand prize winners will be honored at AG CONNECT Expo 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia, during the “Celebration of Agriculture” VIP reception from 4:00-6:00pm on Preview Day, January 7, 2011.
